More about Cynthia
Cynthia Cook is an attorney admitted to practice
in Alaska and Montana.
She brings a broad background in criminal law,
government litigation, investigations, and
corrections to her practice at Aglietti Offret LLC.
Cynthia began her legal career with the Anchorage District Attorney’s Office, where she handled a diverse caseload that included Veterans Court, rural dockets in the Aleutians and Naknek, and violent crime prosecutions. She later served with the Alaska Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, prosecuting Medicaid fraud as well as cases involving abuse and neglect.
Before and during law school, Cynthia spent nearly a decade with the Alaska Department of Corrections, ultimately serving as a Staff Sergeant responsible for training and supervising correctional officers statewide. Her assignments included Hiland Mountain Correctional Center, the Alaska Corrections Training Academy, Anvil Mountain Correctional Center, and temporary duty assignments at Spring Creek Correctional Center. She served as an instructor in several areas, including firearms, defensive tactics, taser, OC spray, field training, time accounting, and prisoner transportation.
Cynthia earned her Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2022. She also serves as an adjunct law professor and tutor at Mitchell Hamline, where she teaches and works with law students preparing for the bar examination. She previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Penn Foster College and an Associate of Arts in General Studies from the University of Alaska Anchorage.
A lifelong Alaskan, Cynthia was raised in Alaska after her dad’s military service brought them to the state at a young age. She graduated from Chugiak High School and its Spanish Immersion Program. Her deep ties to Alaska and experience working throughout the state have given her a particular appreciation for the unique challenges faced by Alaskans and Alaska communities.
Outside of the office, Cynthia enjoys exploring Alaska and traveling, hiking, and playing roller derby with the Denali Destroyers. She is also the proud dog mom of two rescue dogs, Kenzo and Jitsu.
